Alex Iwobi Fails Covid-19 Test Against Benin
Everton star, Alex Iwobi is reported to have tested positive to COVID-19 in Benin Republic. The Super Eagles arrived Benin through inland waterways on Friday and the players and officials were tested by the host officials who found out that Iwobi was positive.
Many Nigerians were worried that the striker was not listed for the AFCON 2022 batlle against the Squirrels neither was he on the bench.
“The players and officials took Covid-19 test on their arrival at Cotonou from Lagos,” our source said.
Apart from missing today’s match Iwobi will also miss the game against the Crocodile of Lseotho on Tuesday in Lagos.
Benin also missed two of their key players over the same Covid -19 positive test results.
Nigeria’s victory over Benin Republic will give the Leone Stars a slim hope of qualification heading into their penultimate round fixture.
The Leone Stars host the Squirrels at the National Stadium in Freetown on Tuesday.
Bottom-placed Lesotho with three points are out of the race and will be playing for pride against the Super Eagles at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos on Tuesday.
