Our country has passed (and is still passing) through challenging times. Very, very challenging. Economic, social, political, security issues. Government has a lot to grapple with.
In the middle of the yeoman’s battle, there are those who try to demonize you. They call you names, and try to dress you in borrowed robes. You ignore them, and keep your eyes on the sparrows, knowing that happier days will come by and by.
Well, a silver lining appeared in the sky on Monday, November 30. A young man, named Sucex Bright, had asked to see me, on behalf of a group named Focus Africa Series. They were organizing Focus Africa Awards 2020, to recognize 60 Emerging Leaders in 20 countries. And you know what? Yours truly was among. Who, me? Yes, the young man said; you sir.
The letter he brought reads in part: “We are pleased to invite you to receive the Focus Africa Award as the Media Icon of the Year.for your outstanding contributions towards promoting transparency and accountability in the public sector and governance in Nigeria.
“As a thorough professional, the dynamics you bring into your job has kept us adequately informed of government efforts to reposition the country. We are glad to recognize your efforts and professionalism at the Focus Africa Awards.”
The event holds on Saturday, December 12, 2020, and what an encouragement it is at these troubled and challenging times.
