In Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial capital, a woman is hanging to life in hospital with a tiny thread after her son brutally attacked her in a failed ritual murder.
Doctors are battling to save Mrs. Alice Iyabo Akinola who is lying comatose in a yet-to-be named hospital with a deep gash in her forehead.
Lagos State Police Command have arrested the evil son, Taiwo Akinola, 29, who, in a desperate attempt to up his cyber-crime activities (a.k.a. Yahoo) by some notches, took to the bloody money making ritual popularly called Yahoo Plus.
The tragedy unfurled at No.2 Raji Ajanaku Street, Off Alaja Road, Ayobo, inside a flat that the evil son shares with the gruesomely battered mother, and her 14-year-old grandchild simply identified as Faruk.
In a carefully planned murder scheme that would make the devil himself turn grey with envy, the evil son, believed to be a staunch member of a dread cult, Aiye Fraternity, reportedly lured his mother from her provision store in front of the house to their apartment under the pretext that he wanted to have an important discussion with the unsuspecting woman.
Unknown to the mother, she was moments away from possible death. To foreclose possible detection of his evil scheme, Taiwo allegedly sent out Faruk, his nephew, to go and buy cigarette and white handkerchief.
With the coast clear, according to the police, the murderous Yahoo Boy clobbered the head of his own mother with a plank, pressing iron and a UPS charger, all in an attempt to foreclose any chance of survival.
Just then, his nephew, Faruk, returned from the errand, and went straight to their apartment when he couldn’t find his grandmother in her shop. He was horrified by what he saw. The grandmother was lying in a pool of her blood, almost lifeless.
Terrified Faruk promptly raised an alarm that attracted neighbours who promptly called the police. And Taiwo, the evil son that tried to kill his mother, was arrested.
According to the police, Taiwo has been singing like a canary in detention. He reportedly told interrogators that he was advised to murder his mother to get rich quickly.
After a comprehensive search of the apartment, detectives found the following exhibits:
- Two calabashes, one containing a human skull and the other, some dark concoction;
- A piece of plank perforated with nails and stained with blood;
- A pressing iron stained with blood;
- A white handkerchief with which he wanted to scoop the victim’s blood;
- And a bottle containing oil, labelled “Back To Sender.”
