President Muhammadu Buhari will lead governors, ministers and top government functionaries to the inauguration on October 16 of Dr Kayode Fayemi as governor of Ekiti State.

Fayemi, who won the July 14 governorship election in Ekiti State, said the outgoing governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, was free to attend the ceremonies which started on October 10 through 20.

The governor-elect, who spoke through the Chairman of Media, John Kayode Fayemi Inauguration Committee, Mr Yinka Oyebode, at a press conference heralding the events, said Buhari’s presence would be a statement on how dearly the President holds the state.

Oyebode, who said Fayemi’s inauguration would mark a new dawn of restoration for the state, said: “I know that we have challenges, but those problems are not insurmountable. Fayemi’s inauguration on October 16 will be a new dawn in Ekiti land. We shall begin work on how best we can give our people the values for their lives and how to ensure they take ownership of their own government”.

According to him, part of the programmes lined up for the ceremonies is a lecture and essay competition entitled: “Reclaiming  Our Land, Restoring Our Values, Ekiti of my Dream”. The lecture is billed to be delivered by the world renowned poet, Prof. Niyi Osundare.

He said the post inauguration would feature a town hall meeting across the three senatorial districts of the state, where he would rub minds with stakeholders on how best to confront the challenges militating against the people.

Oyebode, who assured of adequate security before, during and after the inauguration ceremonies, said that the suit filed by former Governor Segun Oni and the one instituted  by the Peoples Democratic Party candidate in the July 14 poll, Prof Kolapo Olusola, could not stop the events.
