After impeachment storm, Ambode finally presents budget

Apart surviving last week’s impeachment saga storm, Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, is, this Tuesday, presenting the 2019 Appropriation Bill to the state assembly.

Until few days ago when the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, intervened, the governor was almost submerged by the state assembly which seemed hell-bent on impeaching him for alleged budget infraction.

Well, all is well that ends well, as they say. Ambode was welcomed to the State House of Assemble by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, Tuesday afternoon, to formally present his government’s spending plan for 2019.

It will be Mr. Ambode’s last budget presentation as first term governor of Lagos State as the party refused to endorse his second term bid; preferring Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who is flying the APC flag into the March 2, 2019 governorship election in the state.

The lawmakers gave an all-clear signal to Ambode, Tuesday morning, when the assembly took to its twitter handle and wrote thus:

“The activities of the 11-man Committee set up to look into the alleged infractions of 2018 Budget have been suspended sine die.”
