Fake police officer charged to court

A man, who was arrested for parading himself as an Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP, in Abak, Akwa Ibom State, is now telling a court why he was impersonating the police.

A bulletin issued by the office of the Force Public Relations Officer, FPPRO, Mr. Frank Mba, a Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP, said  Kingsley Udoyen, 56, of No. 3, Stadium Road, Abak, Akwa Ibom State, who was arrested early this year, is now facing criminal prosecution.

According to DCP Mba, Udoyen was arrested on  January 2, 2019, by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command and paraded with other suspected criminals by the then Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Police Command, CP Musa Kimo, now AIG in charge of Zone 6 Headquarters, Calabar.

“The suspect is an impersonator who was posing as an Assistant Commissioner of Police to defraud and threaten unsuspecting members of the public before he ran out of luck and was subsequently arrested,” the statement continued.

“He has since been arraigned in a competent court of law and he is currently undergoing criminal prosecution at the Magistrate Court, Abak, Akwa Ibom State.”
