Governor of Kaduna State Mallam El-Rufai has given an insight into why the leader of the Shiite group, El-Zakzakky may remain in the gulag in spite of the mutiny by his followers which has led to the death of several citizens.
El-Rufai said; “There are three Shi’a groups in Kaduna.
“Only El-Zakzaky disciples are terrorists, consist of thugs who don’t recognize the President, the Governor and even the Constitution of Nigeria as a sovereign.
“Their allegiance is to a foreign country. So, they are not more than foreigners and would be treated as such.
“If anyone is considered a threat to the security of Nigeria as a sovereign entity, such a person or persons would be put away.
“He doesn’t vote and his members also don’t. So, my visit to him then was not to ask for votes but to condole him on the death of his three sons. I lost a daughter too so I know how it feels to lose children.
“El-Zakzaky was my mate at Ahmadu Bello University before he was expelled. So, I know the ‘an***l’ I’m dealing with.
You cannot blackmail the government. El-Zakzaky would face the law at the appropriate time.”
