Outspoken former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, Tuesday, returned into the net of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for allegedly using forged medical report to stall his trial on an alleged N4.6 billion fraud at the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos.
The former Minister, according to reports, reportedly arrived the Lagos office of the anti-graft agency around 1p.m. with his lawyer, and was still being grilled by investigators as at the time of this report.
According to the spokesperson of the agency, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, Fani-Kayode was invited to answer questions on the alleged forgery of a medical report which he reportedly procured to stall his trial before a Federal High Court in Lagos.
The commission promised to an update on the interrogation later .
The Ile-Ife, Osun State-born politician is standing trial on an alleged N4.6 billion fraud before Justice Daniel Osiagor of the Federal High Court, Lagos.
The EFCC had charged him alongside a former Minister of Finance, Mrs. Nenadi Usman, and two others on 17 counts of conspiracy, money laundering, and fraud.
Channels Television recalled that at the last sitting of the court on October 13, this year, Justice Osiagor had imposed a cost of N200,000 on Fani-Kayode over his failure to appear before the court for his re-arraignment following the transfer of the former trial judge, Justice Rilwan Aikawa.
He was ordered to pay the fine or stand the risk of having his bail revoked after he failed to appear before the court for his re-arraignment.
