A dare-devil kidnapper, Ekweme Brown Ike, aka Lucifer, has met his water-loo through a sting operation by operatives of the Rivers State Police Command. The operation was led by Mr. Shem Evans, an Assistant Commissioner of Police.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Nnamdi Omoni, in a statement, revealed that the notorious kidnapper, who had been the command’s wanted list for a long time, was killed in a gunfight with cops recently.
Omoni alleged that Lucifer and members of his gang were responsible for the hijack of some commercial buses and abduction of passengers in the Ndele area of the East-West Road in the Emohua Local Government Area of the state.
The Rivers Police spokesperson further revealed that operatives of the newly-created Operation Sting shot and killed Lucifer, a native of Egamini Rundele in the same area, after having been chased from a community in Rivers to Bayelsa State.
Lucifer was said to have instigated a gun battle when he fired at the police while he and his gang members were trying to escape arrest.
Omoni said the news of Lucifer’s death threw the entire Rundele community in Emohua into wild jubilation because many in the community thought he was invincible. They thought he was untouchable because of the deadly charms he was reportedly armed with; always.
Here are Omoni’s exact words while announcing the news of Lucifer’s brutal end: “The most wanted notorious kidnapper from Egamini Rundele in the Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, Ekweme Brown Ike, also known as Lucifer, has been killed by personnel of the Operation Sting in an operation led by the Commander, ACP Shem Evans.
“Lucifer was responsible for all the kidnappings and hijack of commercial buses in the Ndele area of the East-West Road. The entire Rundele community has been thrown into wild jubilation as a result of his death.”
The command, Omoni said, was leaving no stone unturned in its bid to arrest the fleeing gang members of the deadly kidnap syndicate.
