The Nigerian Military High Command, Monday, moved closer to unraveling the masterminds of the deadly attack on the Nigerian Defence Academy, NDA, with the arrest of a non-commissioned Nigerian Air Force officer, Sergeant Torsobo Solomon.
Sergeant Solomon was alleged to be an informant to the bandits that attacked the Nigerian premier military university in Kaduna on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, killing two officers, abducting one.
Although neither the Defence Headquarters nor the Nigerian Air Force had issued a statement on the arrests as at the time of filing this report, a trustworthy military source who confirmed the story revealed that the suspect was nabbed on Monday in Yola, the Adamawa State capital.
Sergeant Solomon is currently attached to the Air Force Comprehensive School, Yola..
Solomon’s arrest, according to the source, was ordered by the Base Commander upon a request by the Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy. The suspect was reportedly arrested with some arms and ammunition.
The source said: “On 08 Nov 21, at about 0600hr, NAF07/ 23922, SGT Torsobo Solomon of 153 BSG (AIRFORCE COMPREHENSIVE SCHOOL YOLA) was arrested on the order of the Base Commander as requested by the NDA Commander for an offence connecting with arms and ammunition with recent bandit attack at NDA Kaduna.
“At about 0815hr, ATR with reg no NAF 930 to arrive flight line to convey him from Yola to NDA KADUNA for further interrogation.
“Below is the suspect onboard the ATR ac to Kaduna.”
