Dokpesi, Yaya Abubakar, George Bako, Others Named for Broadcasters Guild’s Hall of Fame

Another flowery feather has been added to the crowded cap of honours of High Chief Raymond Aleogho Dokpesi, founder of the African Independent Television, AIT, and RayPower F.M. for his enormous contribution to the development of broadcasting in Nigeria.

Dokpesi is among a new batch of inductees to the Broadcasters Hall of Fame announced, Monday, by the Broadcasters Guild of Nigeria, BGN.

A press release issued by Mr. Ohi Ojo, Chairman of BGN’s Hall of Fame Committee, listed the other inductees as: two former Directors General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Dahiru Modibbo and George Bako, as well as two former Directors General of the Voice of Nigeria, VON, Yaya Abubakar and Taiwo Alimi.

Others who made the list are: James Audu, Patrick Ityoghe, Yinka Craig, Mike Enahoro John Chiahemen, Boniface Offorkaja, and Adebayo Faleti.

The Broadcasters Hall of Fame, which was instituted three years ago, had Victor Badejo, Christopher Kolade, Tom Adaba, Vincent Maduka and Abba Zoro, among the first set of inductees.

Categories under which they were inducted were posthumous, living legends, pioneers, innovators and in recognition of individual contributions to the development and growth of the broadcasting sector in Nigeria.

The Broadcasters Guild of Nigeria, BGN, is a registered association of retired and practicing broadcast professionals committed to improving broadcast standards in the country.
