Video: Why I danced “gbese” and “shaku shaku”- Tope Alabi

By Mike Ojoobanikan

The video went viral, sending many tongues wagging about the propriety of a gospel singer dancing in a provocative way, typical of those ancient and medieval orgies. Many, though, were genuinely concerned, praying that the born again singer would not retrogress into apostasy.

Alabi, however, in an interview on TVC, has narrated her own side of the story. In her words: “In a nutshell, I needed that dance. It was at my father’s burial.  The show was organized by my gospel artiste friends to just worship God after the wake-keep  And I needed to worship God.  I just needed to. It is not easy to bury your father. Some people died before their father died. So if you are spiritual you will know you need that dance.”.
