They Suspended Me for Having ‘Swagger’, Declares Unrepentant Oluwo

By Timothy Ojo

The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, Friday, derided the six-month suspension slammed on him by the Osun State Council of Traditional Rulers, saying the royal fathers were envious of his ‘swagger’.

The controversial royal father made the declaration on his Instagram page hours after the Council imposed the penalty on him for, among others, being disrespectful to three paramount rulers in Yorubaland, namely: the Ooni of Ife, the Alaafin of Oyo and the Alake of Egbaland.

The Oluwo said he was not moved by the suspension as he still remained the Oluwo of Iwoland. And to show that he was unfazed, he attached a video clip which shows him partying and dancing to a song that states he was never moved by “abuses”.

The post read, “He was never suspended as Oluwo of Iwoland. The Osun State Traditional Council has only recommended his suspension from the council meetings and activities for six months on the guise that his conduct (being too flashy, stylish, human rights defender and swagging); and that (the suspension) is even subject to Governor’s approval. This clarification is important for the public notice!”

The controversial Oluwo was suspended for six months, on Friday, by the Osun State Council of Traditional Rulers after their emergency meeting held at Osun State Government Secretariat, Abere, Osogbo, the state capital.

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Oojaja II, presided over the meeting.  .
