Disregard, Report Officials Demanding Money for Safety Compliance Certificate, Lagos Says To Social Centres

Lagos State Government has urged event centres, restaurants, cinemas and social clubs not to be swayed by anyone posing as a Lagos State official issuing Safety Compliance Certificate for a certain sum of money, as it is completely free of charge.

This disclosure was made by the Director-General of the Lagos State Safety Commission, Mr Lanre Mojola at a press briefing, addressing the reopening of religious and social centres in Lagos on Friday.

Mojola said, anyone parading as an official seeking for money to get the certificate should be reported to the state government through the easily accessible whistleblowers numbers.

He also added that the online process of registration has been simplified enough and won’t take more than five minutes to complete.

The DG also pleaded with religious bodies to comply with all the guidelines the state government had made available for the reopening of worship centres in the state. For total compliance, the DG said his agency would move around with security agencies to enforce the compliance.

Mojola pointed out that, so far, 1000 social and event centres had applied and have had their registration done in five minutes
