Honour From Abroad as Femi Adesina Bags Honorary Doctorate Degree
By Damola Emmanuel
Seeth thou a man diligent in his business? He shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men…
So says the Holy Book in Proverbs 22 verse 29.
That eternal truth has once again proved profound in the life of the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, as he had his over-stuffed cap fixed with another flowery feather last week as the administration began its home-ward stretch.
At a brief but colourful ceremony at the State House, Abuja, Adesina received a Honorary Doctorate Degree (honoris causa) in Strategic Management and Leadership Development from a United Kingdom-based institution of higher learning.
The honorary causa degree, according to the institution’s authorities, is in recognition of
his selfless service to Nigeria, and his unadulterated loyalty and commitment to President Muhammadu Buhari, as well as his Administration which he has served with every fibre of his being since 2015.
This is how Adesina, a quintessential journalist, former Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief of The Sun Publishing Limited, and ex-President of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, NGE, reported the award on his Facebook Page:
HONOUR FROM ACROSS THE SEAS
Never thought I would ever have the appellation ‘Dr’ to my name, except if I went to herbal school, as an imminent retiree. But what did I see? A notification from Learn To Live Business School, United Kingdom.
The honorary award, they said, was in recognition of my work as Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, and it is described as Doctor of Strategic Management and Leadership Development.
The investiture was done by Dr Peter Akubo and Dr Nelson Kingsley, on behalf of the institution.
An award of pure joy, if you ask me.
