Ministers to Work Till Last Minute-FG

…Says FEC Not Dissolved

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Wednesday, debunked the news by some section of the media and several online platforms to the effect that President Muhammadu Buhari had dissolved the Federal Executive Council.

The viral reports stated that the President dissolved the cabinet after the valedictory session of FEC on Wednesday.

However, the Information Minister put the lie to the report, describing it as “fake news”.

The FEC, declared Mr. Mohammed, “is still very much alive. Please, ignore the fake news.”

Contrary to the speculation, the Minister revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari actually directed the Ministers to remain on their beats and work till the last minute.

Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, also echoed the Minister while appearing on Channels Television’s flagship politics programme, Politics Today.

Advising Nigerians to ignore the report, Adesina said “There is no rule that says President must disband the FEC after the valedictory session.”

When pressed further on the matter by the programme’s anchor, who said the dissolving cabinet after a valedictory session seemed to be the norm, Adesina said it was a “matter of style. And style is idiosyncratic. It differs from person to person.”

Work continues till may 29, 2023, in accord with the constitution, he added.
