Why Oba Israel Adeusi of Ifon Was Killed By Gunmen –PDP Stalwart

A day after the traditional ruler of Ifon, in Ondo State, Oba Israel Adeusi was gunned down by assailants, a member of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in the state, Mr Sodiq Obanoyen,  has raised the alarm saying palpable fear has gripped the entire state after the October 10 gubernatorial election.

Gunmen, on Thursday, killed an Ondo monarch, The Olufon of Ifon, Oba Isreal Adeusi, in his car, in the Ose Local Government Area of the state on his way from a meeting in Akure in his official car when gunmen accosted and shot him.

Obanoyen, a PDP House of Representatives candidate in the 2019 election posited that insecurity in the state is heightened as a result of the unabashed empowerment of political thugs during the gubernatorial election whereby politicians supplied guns for the thugs to intimidate opposition and voters during the election.

“There was high level of insecurity in the state before the election but when politicians decided to give thugs more guns for political manipulations, we should expect what we are witnessing in the state now,” Obanoyen told The Crest. “The killing of the traditional ruler of Ifon on Thursday has sent panic all over the state.”

Obanoyen agrees that it was a clear case of assassination because nothing was stolen from the vehicle and the other two occupants of the vehicle were not harmed.
He warns that the government should address insecurity in the state immediately because these thugs are ready to pull the trigger at the slightest provocation.
The late Olufon of Ifon, Adeusi ascended the throne about 23 years ago and was in his 60s.
