President Muhammadu Buhari, Friday, congratulated the new Tanzanian President, Mrs. Samia Suluhu Hassan, who was sworn in as the nation’s new helmsman earlier in the day following the sudden demise of President John ‘Bulldozer’ Magufuli.
President Magufuli, one of the most prominent skeptics of the coronavirus pandemic, died on Wednesday from heart complications at a hospital in Dar es Salaam.
Buhari, in his congratulatory message to the first ever female president of the East African country, urged President Suluhu to “unite the nation and lead the country in a good direction.”
A statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, said ” The President expressed his desire to work with the new Tanzanian President to advance issues of common African and global interests.”
