Flooding: Buhari gives Minister 90 days to produce master plan

President Muhammadu Buhari, Monday, directed the Minister of Water Resources, Engr. Suleiman Hussaini Adamu, to lead and coordinate with relevant ministries and state governments to develop a Comprehensive Plan of Action for Preventing Flood Disaster in Nigeria.
In a statement he issued in Abuja on Monday, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, gave the names of the affected ministries to include environment and transportation.

According to Shehu, the president’s directive which was conveyed to the minister in a letter signed by his Chief of Staff, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, stated that the plan should be presented to him in 90 days.

Shehu further revealed that President Buhari, who is currently in Seoul, South Korea, is regularly receiving updates on the flooding situation in the country.

The presidential spokesmen said Buhari restated his commitment to address the challenges caused by the disaster in the country.
