Former Minister of Finance under the General Ibrahim Babangida military regime, Dr. Chu Okongwu has died.
Aged 87, the debonair ex-Minister passed on Wednesday morning.
News of his demise hit the airwaves just as the nation was still grappling with the death of Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala, also on Wednesday.
Born on September 23, 1934, in Nnewi local government area of Anambra State, Okongwu, an Economist, served as Minister of National Planning between 1985-1986, and Minister of Finance between 1986-1990 during the Babangida Administration.
He studied Economic theory at Boston University, graduating in 1961. He also attended Harvard University from 1961 to 1965.
