Buhari Mad Over Importation of Bad Fuel, Wants Culprits Brought to Account

President Muhammadu Buhari, Thursday, ordered that producers and providers of substandard consumable products be brought to account.

Mallam Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, who revealed this in a press statement, Buhari also directed the relevant government agencies to take every step prescribed by the laws of the country to ensure the respect and protection of consumers against market abuses and social injustices.

In a direct reaction to the roiling fuel shortage linked to the supply of contaminated products into the Nigerian market, President Buhari said his administration gave high priority to the protection of consumers and would go to any length to shield them from hazardous products, and losses or injuries arising from the consumption of substandard products.

The President directed that in line with the law, service providers must make full disclosure of relevant information with respect to the consumption of their products and that dissatisfied consumers are entitled to a proper redress of their complaints.
