2023: Group Urges Nigerians to Vote for Competence, Hails APC’s Muslim-Muslim Ticket

A socio-cultural group under the aegis of Ikale Heritage Development Association, IHDA, has appealed to Nigerians to allow reasons and competence to reign in voting for the next President in the 2023 election stressing that  Senator Kashim Shettima is the perfect choice as running mate to All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Tinubu, on Sunday picked Senator  Shettima as his running mate and this has led to mixed reactions from political watchers.  But Chairman of the group Otunba Sola Olatunji  warned that the swirling cacophony over Tinubu’s choice can only overheat the polity.

Olatunji insists that Nigerians should not dabble into religion in choosing the best presidential team in 2023.

According to the business mogul, those clamoring for Muslim-Christian as  yardstick for who becomes the president  in 2023  rather than capacity and competence are utterly oblivious of the enormous challenges confronting the nation in the next dispensation.

“Rather than cry foul, Nigerians should hail Tinubu as a man of vision for making a good choice, a team that will box the opposition to a corner at the elections and accelerate the economic growth of Nigeria within a short period,” Olatunji said.

“In this 21st century where people around the world are running a digital economy, Nigerians would not stop amusing themselves with archaic postulations. Any country where the citizens believe so much in miracles as a solution to their problems will continue to wallow in abject penury and under-development.”

Olatunji says he was not surprised at the level of reasoning of people clamouring for Muslim-Christian ticket as parameter for victory atb the polls, insisting that the  idea can only happen in a country like Nigeria where industrial parks in places like Lagos, Kano , Kaduna, Ibadan and Port Harcourt have been turned to Mega Churches and Mosques.

“It is good to be religious but you don’t mix it with politics . This is why the gains and growth in the 70’s and 80’s are now on reverse gear.”.
