2023: Group Condemns Attack on Tinubu’s Health, Age

A socio-cultural group under the aegis of Ikale Heritage Development Association has described the social media attack on Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s health and age as irresponsible.

Speaking to the media in Lagos, Chairman of the group, Otunba Sola Olatunji condemned the wave in totality and warns that the presidential candidates of the People’s Democratic Party and Labour Party should call their followers to order.

“These propagandists will not for once talk about issues that will shape the affairs of the country better as we move into the next election circle next year,” Olatunji said.

“Some of these people who are largely from the South East have clearly adopted propaganda as their business maybe they are yet to put the civil war experience behind them. Some of these people can thrive in all manner of lies and even justify them.

“You will recall the build up to 2015, a particular governor from the South West mounted a strong propaganda campaign against the election of Buhari, including calling him unprintable names like vegetables and at the end Buhari won the election and became the president of Nigeria till date.

“In the build up to his second term reelection in 2019, the propagandists mounted a platform and this time it was championed by Nnamdi Kanu ,calling Buhari a cloned Jubril from Sudan.  Surprisingly ,some lazy elites who should know better bought into this nonsense!

“The 2023 presidential election heat is on and the opposition parties are bereft of how to address the mirage issues  and challenges facing Nigeria, rather their preoccupation has been virulent attack on the All Progressive Congress standard bearer, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“What is the offence of this man? Old age is an institution that should be respected by whoever wants to grow old in life. Nigerians are comfortable with Joe Biden presidency at 80 and the Speaker of the House of Representatives in US but they are not comfortable with BAT. They are comfortable with the age of Atiku Abubakar at 75 but they are not comfortable with Tinubu at 70.

“Why should people be spreading fake news about their leaders? Don’t you know that BAT would naturally prefer to present Raji Fashola if his health can’t support the rigor of work at presidency?

It’s high time we stopped playing God with the health of people whether young or old. No one has immunity  from sickness or death. Where is Fayose now? He was the one who lead the propaganda against Buhari during 2015 election.  We are wishing him a quick recovery but Buhari is here junketing all over the world at 80. Let’s desist from personal attacks and dwell on issues that will shape the destiny of Nigeria now and in future. “
