PDP, LP, ADC call for Cancellation of Presidential Election

…Say the process is ‘irretrievably compromised’

By Damola Emmanuel

Three opposition parties-the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Labour Party, LP, and African Democratic Congress, ADC, Tuesday, addressed a World Press Conference in Abuja, where they called for an outright cancellation of last Saturday’s presidential election.

The three parties argued that the process was hugely flawed, “irretrievably compromised”, lacked integrity and cannot stand any credibility test.

They, therefore, asked the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, to step down and another person appointed to conclude the process.

The conference was jointly addressed by LP National Chairman, Mr. Julius Abure; PDP national chairman, Prof. Iyorchia Ayu; as well as ADC chair, Mr. Ralph Nwosu.

They were supported by a former Imo State Governor and a PDP stalwart, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, former Governor of Cross Rivers State, Mr. Liyel Imoke, spokesperson of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council, PCC, Basorun Dele Momodu, and Senator Dino Melaye who coordinated the conference.
