A prominent son of Ikaleland in Ondo State, Otunba Sola Olatunji has called on his people to wake from their slumber and align with the progressive minds as the race to the 2023 Presidential election begins.
Olatunji, Chairman of the Ikale Heritage Development Association expresses worries that the Ikale people have not been able to maximize the gains of politics to the fullest in spite of the their population advantage.
Below is Olatunji’s clarion call to his people urging them to brace up for the battles ahead:
“The bell for the 2023 presidential race is sounding in all the nooks and crannies of Nigeria as nocturnal meetings are held openly and secretly. The serious ones eyeing the Aso Rock Villa have begun to canvass for supports through several support groups.
In the South West, the support has been massive for one of our own. The momentum is higher in other parts of the country.
“It’s therefore my considered opinion that for the first time in the history of national politics in our country, we should use this opportunity to project ourselves as a people with common destiny.
“The era of individualistic game should be abolished and our laid back mentality which has not helped us over the years should be discarded. We should harness our potentials for the collective growth of our heritage.
“ We are in the era of national assignment, let us dwell on issues of significance that will usher in prosperity for us as a people and stop dissipating energy on propaganda that will draw us backward as a people.
Ikale Heritage Development Association( IHDA) is a platform created to achieve political, economic, social and cultural aspirations of Ikale nation. We must make the best use of this opportunity by coming out frontally in 2023 and support Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“We should not listen to rumor mongers and hate speech promoters. This is the time to begin the process and the platform is there to build a formidable force to achieve the outlined goals.
“In modern societies , people with common heritage pull their strengths and resources together to fast track their political, economic, social and cultural aspirations. The 2023 election should be our date with destiny as we get fully prepared to collaborate with other significant groups to achieve our collective aspirations.”
