IGP Receives Panel Report On Abba Kyari, as Fallen Super Cop Hits  Social Media Again!

The Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Usman Alkali Baba, Thursday, received the report of the Special Investigation Panel (SIP) scrutinizing the indictment of the erstwhile Head of the Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Abba Kyari, a Deputy Commissioner of Police, by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI, in the United States.

The report was submitted by the Chairman of the SIP, Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIG, Joseph Egbunike, at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.

And just as DIG Egbunike-led SIP was submitting its report, a disgraced but defiant Kyari broke his three-week hiatus from social media as he shared a 21-second comic TikTok video by one Sanda Tobacco.

In the video, a cart pusher was shown skating even as the videographer jocularly declared that the cart pusher “is very crazy wallahi!”.

Internet scammer, Abbas Ramon, alias Hushpuppi had named DCP Kyari as an accomplice in a $1.1 million scamming of a Qatari businessman, prompting the FBI to declare the police officer wanted.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation, in a document titled, Criminal Complaint By Telephone Or Other Reliable Electronic Means, filed before the United States District Court for the Central District of California, had alleged that Hushpuppi contracted the services of Abba Kyari after a “co-conspirator,” Chibuzro Vincent, allegedly threatened to expose the $1.1m fraud.

Kyari had taken to his Facebook page to debunk the weighty allegation against him. But rather than dousing public outrage against him, the post fueled the fury the more. This made Kyari to delete the post on August 4, 2021, and quietly disappeared from social media.

However, the Borno State-born cop returned to his Facebook page with over 450,000 followers, Thursday, sharing the TikTok comic video.

While presenting the report, DIG Egbunike thanked the IGP for the confidence reposed in him and members of the Panel to conduct the probe.

Noting that the SIP commenced investigations immediately it was inaugurated on August 2, 2021, and the report submitted was an outcome of a painstaking, transparent and exhaustive investigative process.

He further revealed that the report presented contained the case file of the probe, evidences and findings as well as testimonies from DCP Abba Kyari and other persons and groups linked to the matter.

The IGP, according to Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, a Commissioner of Police, commended the Panel for the work done, stating that the essence of the probe was to carry out discrete investigations into the allegation levied against Kyari with the aim of guiding the Police High Command in its decision-making processes.

The IGP assured that a careful and expeditious review of the recommendations would be undertaken by the Force Management Team and the review would be forwarded to appropriate quarters for necessary action.

The IGP, according to Mba, reiterated the Force’ commitment to ensure justice for all.
