In Akwa Ibom, APC Expels Buhari’s Former Aide, Ita Enang for Anti-Party Activities
A former Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on National Assembly Matters, Senator . Ita Enang, has been expelled by the Akwa Ibom State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), over what it described as his anti-party activities.
But Enang in a swift reaction described the news of expulsion as fake and asked the APC members to ignore the news “and continue working with me and all other party leaders and members of the party for the success of the Party in all the elections.”
But the state party Chairman, Hon. Obong Leo Ntukekpo, insisted that the state Working Committee of the APC ratified recommendations of the party’s Disciplinary Committee regarding the expulsion of the former presidential aide.
According to the chairman, the expulsion of the presidential Enang was in pursuant to a petition detailing gross anti-party activities by the former legislator written and submitted to the state leadership of the party by his ward chairman in Eastern Ward 2, Ibiono Local Government Area of the state.
Enang in the letter was accused of holding clandestine meetings with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state with a view to undermining APC’s chances in the general election and had done so in defiance of the directives of the party.
SaharaReporters had reported that Enang had after the state governorship primaries, where Mr Obong Akan Udofia was declared the winner, approached several courts to disqualify him both in Abuja and Uyo.
However, the Court of Appeal in a landmark ruling recently affirmed Udofia as the valid candidate of the party for the March 11th governorship elections in Akwa Ibom State.
But Enang in a statement appealed to the APC members in Akwa Ibom to cooperate and work together for the success of the 30 January APC presidential rally in Uyo.
“We should please focus on mobilising for the rally and not be distracted by irrelevancies,” Enang said.
