2019 Election: JAMB Postpones Mock Exam, May Reschedule 2019 UTME

The mock examination of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination which was scheduled to start from Saturday, February 23, has been postponed due to the presidential and National Assembly elections rescheduled to hold on the same date.

Management of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board took the decision at meeting on Wednesday. It also announced that the 2019 UTME  might be shifted if the Governorship and state Houses of Assembly elections were not concluded on March 9.

Head of Information, JAMB, Dr Fabian Benjamin who made the announcement said that a new date for the mock examination would be announced later.

“We have fixed a date for our examination. They have shifted the elections and we are also looking at the elections. If for any reason they affect our examination, we will certainly change. But if they don’t affect our examination, we will let it be.

“If there is a need for run-offs and the elections enter another week, of course it will affect our programmes.

“Our mock examination was supposed to start last weekend. Now that INEC has shifted the presidential election to this weekend,  certainly the mock examination will not take place that day.

“A new date for the mock examination will soon be announced. But for the examination proper, the date earlier scheduled stands. No date has been picked for the mock. We are still looking at other things.”
